Ruth Lake Bio

WELCOME!
A life time love of horses led me to my career in Photography. My horses are part of my daily life but most of the time you will find me behind the lens or computer.
My professional development is on going, and I find myself constantly looking for the magic of "light" in everyday life.
This year I will be expanding my Weddings & Portraits, with background & lighting for outdoor/indoor set ups.
My artistic development led me to Digital Fine Art Panting, each one a unique experience for me. The beauty and sensitivity of the final portrait is magic, much like the experience of working with paint.
Please let me know if you have a special request or idea, I always try to capture the best moment in my work.

Pastoral Heaven

Awards - 2005 Impressions & Favorites

Pastoral Heaven- Suzy Lucine-- Judge
I chose "Pastoral Heaven" in the Professional Scenic division as my overall contest favorite. To me, it had an incredibly strong first impression. The photographer had to have patience and an artistic eye to capture this shot taken without any props, and to capture a serene moment in a beautiful, natural setting. There are so many positive artistic and technical elements that make this photograph tops. The contrasting colors of this pony mare and foal are a plus, as well as the lines of their bodies, the trees, grasses, and stream keep the viewer's eye flowing throughout the photograph. The camera angle positively utilizes the strong natural light, which creates eye-pleasing shadows. The photograph makes me wish I could sit on that hill some day and watch these ponies in a natural setting.
Please excuse the mess while I redesign my site, Thank You, Ruth
